About this variety
Soursop (Annona muricata) is a tropical evergreen fruit tree with glossy leaves, yellow-green flowers, and large heart-shaped fruit with a textured surface.
Also known as: Graviola, Guanábana, Lakshman phal, Prickly custard apple, Corossol, Stachelannone, Guyabano, Durian belanda and Sirsak.
For cultivation, choose a warm, humid, frost-free setting with bright sun and shelter from strong wind while young. Use a rich but freely draining mix kept evenly moist, never continuously saturated around the developing roots. Freshly sown containers should have drainage and good air movement. Natural seed lots vary, so emergence speed and the number of seedlings depend on pretreatment, temperature, moisture, and the grower's conditions.
Seed starting: Soak the seeds in warm water for about 24 hours. Sow 1–2 cm deep, maintain 25–30°C, and keep humidity stable until emergence. Label the container with the sowing date, keep it out of standing water, and check moisture regularly. Do not discard a sound pot simply because individual seeds emerge at different times.
After emergence, Provide bright light and gentle air circulation after germination. Transplant when seedlings are sturdy enough to handle, retain warmth, and water whenever the upper layer begins to dry.
Seeds are intended for propagation. Before planting outdoors, confirm that the species and your growing method are suitable for your climate, available space, and local rules.
